Where can you go in 'Tarporley'?

Most trips start from our base at Kings Place, near Kings Cross, but we can also pick you up/ drop you off from other locations on the Regent's Canal (see Canal & River Trust Regents Canal Guide and Wikipedia page). Please note we have to charge for any time taken to reach you from our base.   Do email or discuss your ideas with us and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Please note that canal closures or 'stoppages' - which can be at short notice - can restrict where we can take you.

Day Trips

A day trip can either be a picnic and a game of football in Victoria Park, or a pint of beer in Little Venice and a visit to Camden Market.  During a relaxing trip though part of secret London, you can burrow under Islington in a tunnel, pass a nature reserve at Kings Cross and float through the Zoo.  There are locks to be worked (you're welcome to help if you'd like to) and, if you're feeling adventurous, you can try steering Tarporley for a while (we'll be there to supervise) [See this boat handling video].  With great company, good food and even a touch of music it's hard to imagine a more enjoyable (and different) day out.

Residential Cruises                                                                                 Back to the Top

Got more time?  A residential cruise will bring out the gypsy hidden within everyone - aboard a small floating home you can really become a great explorer - discover the River Lee [but see stoppages note above] and the Lee Valley Regional Park [2-3 days] or go on to Hertford [4 days] or the River Stort [4-6 days] - or float over the roaring traffic of the North Circular Road to Uxbridge [2 days] and Rickmansworth [3-4 days] on the Grand Union Canal.  Wake up each morning in a completely different world.  There's so much to see and do - try to catch a fish or develop your skills as a canal folk artist!  This must be the cheapest accommodation for visitors to explore London and its surrounds.

Camden Canals & Narrowboat Association's aim is to offer the leisure, discovery and educational opportunities that a trip on Tarporley can make possible. Discovering London's canals will give you a relaxing taste of history along one of London's "green lungs", and we can make it an exciting adventure.
